Andrews is
the
birthplace
of
the
Great
Game
and
today,
throughout
the
golfing
world,
St
Andrews
is
recognised
as
the
'Home
of
Golf'.
World’s
leading
golf
destination
and
venue
for
some
of
the
sport’s
major

The
range
and
quality
of
courses,
not
to
mention
the
majestic
beauty
of
the
St
Andrews
coastline,
marks
the
town
out
as
the
premier
destination
for
golfers
around
the
globe.
With
a
rich
variety
of
10
courses
designed
to
suit
all
ranges
of
ability
and
experience,

Andrews
is
a
major
attraction
for
golfers
wishing
to
sample
the
unique
atmosphere
of
playing
golf
in
a
town

in
six
centuries
of
the
sport’s

spend
more
time
playing
golf
and
less
time
travelling.
There
are

links
and
one
parkland
course
including

the
Home
of

golf
was
first
played
600
years
ago
and
yet
it
remains
a
real
test
of
golf
for
today's
champions.If
there
is
a
single
course
in
the
entire
world
that
most
golfers
aspire
to
play
just
once
in
their lifetime,
it
is
the
Old
Course
at
St

in
Scotland—a
course
like
no

a

The
Jubilee
Course,
St
Andrews,
Scotland
-
(6805
yards,
par
72
)
The
Jubilee
is
considered
by
some
to
be
the
toughest
of
the
St.
Andrews
courses.
Originally
opened
on
Queen
Victoria's
Diamond
Jubilee
in
1897,
it
underwent
a
re-design
by
Donald
Steele
in
1988
and
is
now
reputed
to
be
the
toughest
of
the
St
Andrews' Championship
links.
Created
on
a
narrow
strip
of
land
between
the
sea
and
the
New,
the
raised
tees
provide
great
views
but
also
expose
golfers
to
wind
which
sweeps
in
from the
bay.
The
Eden
Course,
St.
Andrews,
Scotland
-
(6195
yards,
par
70
)
By
the
year
1913
the
pressure
for
play
on
the
Old,
New
and
Jubilee
courses
was
such
that
a
fourth
course
was
required.
Opened
for
play
in
1914,
the
Eden
course
was
designed
by
Harry
S.
Colt,
internationally
renowned
for
his
course
design
skills.
His
use
of
natural
features
and
of
partially
buried
field
boundary
walls
gives
the
course
an
entirely
natural
feel.
Designed
by
Donald
Steel
(previously
responsible
for
work
on
the
Jubilee
and
Eden
courses),
the
Strathtyrum
Course
was
opened
in
1993
as
an
easier
alternative
for
mid
to
high
handicappers.The
course
is
shorter
than
the
other
18-hole
courses
in
St
Andrews,
and
with
only
15
bunkers
and
a much
flatter
terrain
is
more
reminiscent
of
a
parkland
course.
Balgove
Course,
St.
Andrews,
Scotland
-
(1520
yards,
par
30,
9
holes)

and
re-opened
in

is
primarily

children,
beginners
and
those
who
can
manage
only
9
holes.
Bunkers
and
a
double
green
are
just
some
of
the
features
that
offer
a
great
golfing
experience
that
has
proved
popular
with
both
children
and
adults.
